XMAS: C/RIVER MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT BEGINS DESILTING OF GUTTERS, GENERAL SANITATION

The Cross River State Ministry of Environment has commenced desilting of gutters, grass cutting and general sanitation within the metropolis ahead of the Christmas period.

The desilting of gutters which is ongoing along major routes within Calabar Municipality and Calabar South, is part of the ministry’s effort in keeping the environment clean within the Yuletide season and beyond.

The State Commissioner for Environment, Mr Mfon Bassey, who was on ground monitoring the ongoing work, said that the state government was committed in ensuring that the environment is kept clean and green at all times.

According to him, the sanitation exercise was carried out to complement the green status of the state in view of the Christmas.

He however, called on residents in Calabar to always dump their refuse on the bins for easy evacuation to the dump site.
