UNICROSS VC WARNS STUDENTS AGAINST HARBOURING ILLEGAL OCCUPANTS IN HOSTELS

The Vice Chancellor of UNICROSS, Prof. Augustine Angba has called on students who harbour illegal occupants in their respective hostels to desist from that practice as such students will be evicted from their lodges when caught in the act. He gave the warning when the Man O’ War members of the universitiy paid him a courtesy visit in his office to solicit for support that is geared towards enhancing their duties.

Prof. Angba called on the Chief Security Officer of the university to intensify efforts towards ridding the hostels of illegal occupants. He said: “If one person is caught in the hostel keeping illegal occupants, the whole four persons in the lodge will be thrown out and new students admitted into it”. He advised students who allow illegal occupants into their lodges to desist from the act and those who witness such incidences to file a report with the Security unit of the institution.

Reacting to the request made by the Man O’ War group, Prof. Angba said: “When I see things concerning Man O’ War, I give it full attention because I was a member of the association in Mary Knoll College. We thank you so much for the security support you’re giving to the school. We want to assure you that we are fully in support of you because of what you’re doing. We will ensure that our support is translated into financial and material forms.”

The commander of Man O’ War, UNICROSS said they work with securities in school to maintain peace and orderliness as according to him: “If we have the challenges that we can’t handle, we call on the Security unit to assist us”.

The Commander itemised the challenges facing them to include illegal occupants in the hostels and lack of facilities for work. He requested for gadgets such as security van to aid patrol around campus.
Reacting to this, the Vice Chancellor clarified that the lean resources in the university cannot cater for the operational vehicle.
He promised that the university’s management will look into other issues affecting the Man O’War and find ways to mitigate those issues.
