The Management of University of Cross River State has announced a review of academic activities for the second semester of 2019/2020 academic session.
The announcement indicates that Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 students are expected to return to their respective campuses on Monday, 15th March 2021.
They were earlier directed to return to their respective homes after their First Semester examinations for 2019/2020 session.
That previous decision was taken to create space for the 1st and 2nd Year students to return to their respective campuses and resume academic activities for the First Semester of the 2019/2020 academic session.
In addition, 3rd, 4th and 5th Year students were required to immediately resume virtual lectures for the second semester of 2019/2020 academic session. They were supposed to receive such lectures in their respective homes.
Those phased resumption measures were taken in the best interest of staff and students and in compliance with global and national Covid-19 control and prevention activities.
However, today’s announcement states that: “The Management of the University in consultation with the Committee of Deans and having observed a tremendous global and national decline in the Covid-19 pandemic has reviewed the resumption of academic activities for the second semester of 2019/2020 session.”
The review indicates that while physical lectures will commence tomorrow for Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 students, Year 1 and Year 2 students will resume physical lectures immediately after they complete their ongoing First Semester examinations.
Equally, the review indicates that virtual learning shall be done side by side with the physical learning for all classes.
The announcement equally states that the Management of the University has made arrangements for lectures and classrooms to reflect the new policy direction as well as the required precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus.
Nevertheless, the university’s earlier published academic calendar remains unaltered by the above adjustments.
