The Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, University of Calabar, Professor Michael Okom, has admonished the Board of the Faculty of Law to sustain his tempo of prompt release of results and ensure proper timeline for Post Graduate Programme experienced during his tenure as Dean while suing for the continuous sustenance of cordial relationship amongst staff of the Faculty.
Overwhelmed with nostalgia, Professor Okom whose position as Dean Faculty of Law in the institution became vacant following his appointment as DVC Administration by Professor Florence Obi led institution gave the charge at a valedictory board meeting of the faculty held on Monday, at the Moot Court in the university.
Hinting that for the Faculty to stabilise before students arrive on campus following February 5th resumption notice by the management, he averred that, “ I am feeling nostalgic with my last board meeting of the Faculty , I am here to formerly let the board know that the position would be left vacant.
The ongoing Dean he reeled out management approved guidelines for the elections which exempt those on study leave, leave of absence and political appointees from voting while noting that consideration would not be given to voting by proxy in the Deanship election scheduled for Thursday, January 28,2021.
Appreciating God for the successful stint as Dean of the Faculty, he thanked all academic staff and non academic staff of the Faculty for the harmonious relationship he enjoyed as Dean while maintaining that,” power is only useful when it is used to solve problems in the society”
