In continuation of her familiarisation visits to opinion leaders and distinguished sons and daughters of Cross River State, the VC elect, Prof. Florence Obi, paid a private visit to Mr Ita Ekpenyong, former DG of DSS on the 27th of September 2020. The VC Designate solicited support from him as an alumnus towards the growth and development of the University.

In his response, Mr Ita who was impressed by the visit, promised to support the growth and programmes of the University. Prof. Obi was accompanied by Prof. Francisca Bassey of the Chemistry Department, University of Calabar.

Similarly, Prof. Obi also visited the Lawmaker representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Gershom Bassey in his office in Abuja.

Prof. Obi expressed her readiness to work with Sen. Bassey and other stakeholders in the state for the development and advancement of the institution and scholarship generally.

Sen. Bassey, who received Prof. Obi in the company of Prof. Franca Bassey in his office, congratulated her once again on her emergence as the Vice-Chancellor elect of the University of Calabar.

The Senator assured her of his support and that of the Southern District and expressed his confidence in the abilities of Prof. Obi to take the institution to a greater and enviable height.

He promised to rally his colleagues to support Prof. Obi with a view to help her succeed maximally as the first female VC of the University.
