UGEP POLYTECHNIC AND THE PURPORTED CLAIMS THAT SEN. OWAN CALLED MINISTER FOR EDUCATION: THE TRUE STORY

Members of the public are advised to discontenance the purported claims that the immediate past Senator representing Central Senatorial District, Sen. John Owan Enoh recently called the Minister for Education to request that the location of the Federal Polytechnic, Ugep be changed to Ikom. The purported claim is blackmail from mischief makers who are out to dent the image of the the Distinguished senator.

THE TRUE STORY
Sen. Owan last spoke with the Minister long before the decision was taken for the location of the Federal Polytechnic in Ugep. However, when the new circular for approval came out siting the Polytechnic at Ugep, the senator being an advocate for all-inclusive development in Cross River, accepted it in good faith and never for once called the Honourable Minister.

For our brothers in Ugep who are indoubt, they can reach out to Chief Obono Obla who is a personal friend to both Ministers of Education to verify if the senator ever visited or called any of them since the release of the new circular siting the Polytechnic in Ugep. To settle record straight, Sen. Owan remains a selfless leader who evenly represented all Local Governments in Central evenly while in the Senate. As an advocate of development, the 2019 APC gubernatorial candidate believes that any part of the state deserves to have government presence and has practiced this through his numerous empowerment programmes and job placements for all asundry not minding your place of origin. The Distinguished senator can best be described as a ‘Detribalized Cross Riverian’. It is therefore worrisome that mischief makers are bent on denting his image through this blackmail.

Wherever any infrastructural development is located in Cross River does not matter- be it Obudu, Ugep or even Bakassi as it is meant for the good of all Cross Riverians. Rather than continue to fight for a location for any structure, it will be more important if we devote that time to attract more developmental projects to our dear state for the ‘Good of All Cross Riverians’.

The senator remains a true son of Cross River who believes that ‘Better Days are Possible Again’. Our Ugep brothers and indeed entire Cross Riverians are therefore encouraged to discontenance the mailicious report. Sen. Owan remains the ‘Man for All’.
