A former Senator who represented Central Cross River, Sen. John Owan Enoh has empowered many of his constituents on Agricultural skills ranging from Fish farming to Livestock farming.
The Skills Acquisition Training programme which is practically oriented took place at Jorany Hotels, Ikom and attracted participants from across the state.
Speaking during the presentation of certificates to the trainees, the senator represented by Engr. Stanley Afu called on the participants to make good use of the opportunity by putting it into practice. According to him, agriculture has become the backbone of the Nigerian economy and therefore should be taken seriously. According to him “Agriculture today provides most of the world’s food and fabrics and plays a critical role in the entire life of the Nigerian economy”
Sen. Owan added that the skills acquired if properly harnessed will help reduce unemployment and create more jobs for others saying “The skills you have acquired will also provide employment opportunities to all of you, at the same time enhance the Federal Government programme on diversification from crude oil exploration to agriculture.”
He further charged the beneficiaries to be master every aspect of the training as doing so will lead to self employment. According to him “You are now the master of your own enterprises by trading on the skills you have acquired. You now know how to make money.”
A cross section of the beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the training and promise to put it into practice. They appreciated the former lawmaker for the gesture and assured him of their commitment and dedication towards the training.
