SEN. JOE @ 54: THE CHEERFUL AND CAREFUL LEADER

BY: Alobo Eba

As the distinguished senator who represented the good people of Central Cross River in the 8th Assembly clocks 54 today, it is pertinent to bring to the fore some of the attributes which has kept the APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 general elections relevant and ahead of some of his contemporaries. Two out of these key attributes are his disposition towards giving freely and his meticulous nature of handling issues. These I tag ‘His Cheerfulness and Carefulness’.

Born on June 4th, 1966 at Agbokim Waterfalls, the distinguished senator who presently is the Secretary of the APC National Reconciliation committee has continued to endear himself to the hearts of many both in his home state and the nation at large.

On the issue of ‘CHEERFUL GIVING’, the former law maker has continued to pay some of his essential staff who are still on his nominal payroll a year and more after leaving government as an elected representative. This singular gesture is worthy of commendation as it typifies the height of magnanimity and generosity. In addition, the Agbokim illustrious son has continuously left his door opened to all a sundry irrespective of their political parties, affiliation and belief system. He has exhibited a high sense of commitment to securing jobs for federal agencies including the revered NNPC for many Cross Riverians, most of whom he has never met before. Sen. Owan has continued to pick calls, reply SMS and kept in constant touch with his people. For a man whom many criticised as spending more time at home than in Abuja during his stay in the National Assembly, he has proven most of his critics wrong as he continuously visit home to attend events that requires his presence and devout time to relate with his people.

A detribalized leader who sees everyone as being equal, a man who is ever ready and willing to give his all to ensure that someone is happy. Sen. Owan can only be described as a ‘Man of the People’ to the core both in government and out of government.

As it concern ‘CAREFULNESS’, the APC stalwart can best be described as a man with the midas touch in every endeavour he finds himself. As a legislature, he was meticulous to the core in his law making which attracted so many bills- some of which were passed into law. Notable among those bills is the one which sought to establish a federal Polytechnic in Ikom. Sen. Owan has equally exhibited a high sense of meticulousness in handling the affairs of Hus numerous businesses as well as handling his numerous staff across the state. Never have I seen a man of such high caliber who is very careful in any step he takes. Bring a proposal to him and he will wow you through his inputs and suggestions geared towards improving that document. Just maybe, this meticulous nature of the quintessential leader can be attributed to his short stay in the academia as a lecturer. What do they sag about academics again…always careful with details…Distinguished Senator John Owan Enoh has exhibited this trait beyond all reasonable doubt and if given the opportunity will replicate same in handling the affairs of our dear state- Cross River as the man at the helms of affairs. His vision encapsulated in the “Rescue Mission” which he presented to us during the 2019 election is still very fresh in our minds. If implemented, this document will turn the fortunes of our dear state.

As we roll out the drum to celebrate this great enigma, a politician of impeccable character, a philanthropist per excellence, a man of the people, a great father and family man, a mentor, boss and teacher of many of us, it is our earnest prayer that God will continue to bless, preserve and protect him and grant his earnest heart desires. Amen.

From all of us at GENUINE COMMUNICATIONS- Publisher of Genuinereports, owners of Genuine FM and TV, we wish the dynamic leader a HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
