Former Governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna, has congratulated Prof. Obi on her emergence as the first female Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar.

Haruna, who was governor of Adamawa State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007, described Prof. Obi’s victory in his congratulatory message as “amazing and remarkable”.

The former Governor prayed God to give the VC elect the wisdom and strength to deliver on her set goals.

Also, the Vice Chancellor of University of Benin, Prof. Lilian Salami, congratulated her colleague for breaking the record of emerging first female VC of Unical, 45 years after.

Similarly, Dr Monique O. Ekpong, Ambassador designate wrote, “HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on your emergence as the first female Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar. I am particularly very proud of you. Wishing you God’s guidance and protection. Cheers.

Also in his congratulatory message, the House of Representatives member for Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency in the National Assembly said, “Good morning madam and a big congratulations. God’s favor and divine appointment saw you through to become the one that would re-direct and position our enviable citadel of learning.

“May the lord adorn you with wisdom, courage and good health to excel in Jesus name. Amen.
Rt.Hon Ntufam Dan Asuquo (Dansuki)”.

The former VC of CRUTECH wrote, “Morning VC. I wish to congratulate you for your success in the recent interview. I pray for God’s guidance, grace and favour in this new appointment. Your success will depend entirely on you and your ability to allow God to guide you. Beware of friends, colleagues and even family influence. These can help derail you. Be guided from within. I wish you the very best in the future. Prof. E. Efiom Ene-Obong, Dept of Genetics and Biotechnology ( former VC, Crutech).

Former Ministers, Professor Stephen Ocheni
and Professor Toaheed Adedoja also congratulated Prof. Obi for her success during the interview and for emerging as the 11th VC of Unical.

The Paramount Ruler of Boki, HRM, Otu Fredaline Akando, who prayed for a smooth tenure for the VC elect, said that Prof. Obi’s emergence was a reward for academic excellence and merit.

The Paramount Ruler urged her to stabilise the university system by promoting and enhancing academic excellence.
