Plots to disqualify Rt Hon Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe from participating in the pending northern senatorial bye-election has continued to gather momentum as some members of the Natioanl Working Committee, NWC, has discreetly ordered that he be disqualified.

A source close to the committee revealed that Governor Ben Ayade is uncomfortable with Jarigbe being cleared to run the senatorial bye-election scheduled for October 30, 2020 and therefore wants him disqualified to oave way for his anointed aspirant, Dr Steve Odey, who is also his aide and Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Boars, SUBEB.
The source further revealed that the Chairman of the panel and the a member of the NWC from Akwa Ibom are leading the disqualification agenda.
The duo are Governor Ben Ayade’s anchor men and are said to have been compromised heavily to execute the hatched job.
The source said: “Hon Timothy Golu is the Secretary of the Screening Appeal Committeee. He is being held hostage to sign the disqualification at the Presidential Lodge now.
“One Mr Festus Ifeanyi, also a member of the Screening Committee, got a call from Golu saying he is jittery and under threat. Golu is being bribed with N1.8m to append his signature.
“Timothy Golu also confirmed that the National Legal Adviser was the one who mandated that Rt Hon Jarigbe be disqualified for taking the party to Court,” the source stated.
The other aspirants jostling for the position and were screened include
Dr. Stephen Odey, former Cross River state Assembly member, Dr Ugana Lukpata, Mrs Martina Odom, and Dr Mrs Mary Iji.
