Yesterday, June 12, Gov. Ben Ayade was scheduled to be in Bakassi to allocate the 52 housing units to IDPs as part of their resettlement benefit.
A release from the State Chief of Protocol had earlier asked all Commissioners, SSG, Special Adviser and top government appointees to be seated at the venue in Bakassi at 11.am before the arrival of the Governor.
Appointees and Paramount rulers sat for hours but the governor did not show up again to allocate the houses to the beneficiaries.
Before saying Jack, youths from the area stormed the centre of the event and catered away all the food stuff and other food items meant for distribution to the IDPs. The youths also scattered all the plastic chairs arranged for visitors, while some Commissioners took off immediately.
This whole Bakassi saga has taken another dimension; it’s now a developing story that is running in episodes.
