OPERATION AKPAKWU TAKES CAMPAIGN AGAINST CULTISM TO SEC. SCHOOLS IN C’RIVER

As part of conscious effort by the Cross River Government under the able leadership of Sen Prof Ben Ayade to ensure a crime and cultism free state, Operation Akpakwu set up by the governor has commenced aggressive enlightenment campaigns against cultism in secondary schools in the state.

The SA security south to the governor, henry okokon,who disclosed this in Calabar on Sunday said that governor Ayade Was more interested in seeing how to discourage young people from getting themselves entangled with cultism and at the same time rescue those who are already cults members.

He explained that it is based on this premise that besides its main duty of effectively smoking out crimes and criminals from the state, Operation Akpakwu was directed to carry out an aggressive enlightenment campaigns to secondary schools in the state to dissuade students from embarking on activities that will destroy their future as well as bring bad image to their family.

Henry Okokon revealed that Operation Akpakwu has already carried out enlightenment campaigns to the following secondary schools, including Government College, Ikot Ansa, Estate Secondary School, Ikot Ansa, Federal Housing Secondary school, NYSC Secondary and Government Secondary School, Ikot Effanga Mkpa, all in Calabar Municipality.

Others are Government Secondary school, Atu, Government Technical college, Mayne Avenue, Government Secondary school, Lagos Street and UNICAL Staff secondary school, all in Calabar South with the exception of UNICAL Staff Secondary school which is located in the Calabar Municipality area.

The situation in Government Secondary School, Ikot Ansa is so bad that the Principal of the school lamented that outsiders were using the uncompleted building structures in the school to smoke marijuana and also rape some students, adding that the situation in the Estate Secondary School was similar to that of Government Secondary school, Ikot Ansa.

He also attributed the recent arrest of a 17 years girl one of the secondary schools in the state who brought pistol to school to kill her teacher to the proactive efforts of the men of the operation Akpakwu.
