Dr. Alex Egbona the member representing ABI/YAKURR federal constituency during the occasion of his one year in office gave constituents hope as he promised to come to their aid after the inter-state ban and reopening of borders. This was contain in statement of stewardship to the constituents.
Egbona who lamented over wasted months of his first year in the legislature on election litigations and rerun, said “I was the only member of the APC in Cross River State to have won the general election that was conducted in February last year” He added that “they were plots by some persons to stop me from getting my certificates of return” but hope is not lost as the battle is over and many progress were recorded in the year.
He said “I can beat my chest and say even with all the distractions, my people still have good taste of dividends of democracy which includes installation of solar-powered electricity light in parts of the constituency, financial assistance, provision of hand sanitizers and other palliatives to cushion the impact of covid19 pandemic on our people.
Also procurement of motorcycles, tricycles and sewing machines to be distributed after lockdown, the facilitation of NEMA to provide foods and other relief materials to flood victms in Ekureku, among others.
Egbona who expressed the needs for constituency office in account of accessibility, has established modern and model constituency office at Ugep, Yakurr Local Government which he is set to commissioned and put to use soon.
According to him, sponsorship of bill for the establishment of polytechnic in his constituency to be located in ABI and a motion on the floor of the house, for an end to the communal crisis between Adadama in ABI LGA and the Amegu people in Ebony State among other, got to underscores his commitment to effective representation, as he reassured the people of his readiness to deliver on his campaign promise.
