The Federal Government in collaboration with Hon.(Dr) Alex Egbona Women Farming Support Scheme, empowered 500 women under the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES) in Abi/Yakurr.
The cash was disbursed to the beneficiaries by the member, Representing Abi/Yakurr in the green chamber, Hon.Dr Alex Egbona, in company of National Directorate of Employment Cross River State Director, Mr Gabriel Ugem, at Ekureku, Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The State Director said the empowerment programme was in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s concern about the Local Farmers and the less privileged, and the need to improve their Agricultural status.
Speaking during the presentation, the Member Representing Abi/Yakurr federal Constituency Hon. Alex Egbona represented by his Senior Legislative Aids, Hon. Barr. Chuks Agube thanked the Federal Government for coming to their aid to support the people of Abi/Yakurr with empowerment programmes. “The amount may not mean a lot to some people but it means a lot to majority of the beneficiaries because that is the working capital they need”
