The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has relocated her Calabar branch office to Uyo on a temporary basis. This is contained in statement made available to Genuine Reports.

According to the statement “The West African Examination Council (WAEC), wishes to inform the Cross River State Government, Cross River Ministry of Education, School Principals, Candidates, other Stakeholders in Cross River state and indeed, the general public, that WAEC Branch Office, Calabar has been temporary relocated to WAEC Zonal office, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, till further notice”.

The statement added that “This development is as a result of the vandalization, looting and burning down of the WAEC Branch office, Calabar by hoodlums on Saturday, October 24, 2020.”

According to WAEC, the relocation is to enable the council to continue in the discharge of her duties as it says “The relocation which is an interim measure, i to enable the Council to continue to carry out its operations and render services to the Nigerian Child and other stakeholders. We wish to assure all stakeholders and the genera public that normal operations would resume in the Calabar Branch office once the status quo is restored”.

The Council regrets any inconveniences the relocation will cause saying “The Council wises to apologise to its stakeholders and the general public for any inconvenience that may arie as a result of this relocation”.

The Examination body further extended gratitude to those who reached out to them during the trying period.
