JUSTICE IKPEME REJECTED AGAIN BY C’RIVER ASSEMBLY

The Cross River State House of Assembly has today rejected the re-affirmation of Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme as the substantive Chief Judge of the state for a second time.

In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, he stated that the house voted against her confirmation for a second citing their earlier position that she hails from Akwa Ibom state and is therefore considered a security threat to the state. The statement reads “Cross River State House of Assembly overwhelmingly rejects the re-affirmation of Justice Akon Ikpeme as Chief Judge of Cross River state”.

Recall that majority of the Assembly members voted against the confirmation of Justice Ikpeme who happens to be the most senior judge at the moment in the state. Thereafter, the next in rank, Justice Eneji was assigned on Acting capacity. His tenure will come to an end this June.
