As the nation marks its 60th Independence Anniversary, a lawmaker in the Cross River House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hilary Bisong, has called on all Nigerians to be united with a sense of purpose in other to curb the myriads of security challenges facing the nation.
In his Independence message made available to journalists in Calabar, the Lawmaker said it was only unity, love and cooperation of all Nigerians that would help to reduce cases of insecurity across the country.
Bisong, who commended the military for its doggedness in the fight against insurgency in troubled spots in the country, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to re-appraise the operations of the security chiefs.
He noted that no meaningful development can thrive in a hostile area, hence the need for the Federal Government to deploy adequate manpower to troubles spots across the country.
Hon. Bisong called on Nigerians to always avail security agencies with timely information that would help them to respond to cases of emergency on time.
On employment, the lawmaker observed that Nigeria was celebrating her 60th Independence anniversary with millions of youths still unemployed.
He urged the Federal and State Governments to budget social funds that would help the youths to start small scale businesses and that will engage them productively.
The lawmaker however, lauded Gov. Ben Ayade industrial drive in Cross River, expressing assurance that when fully put to use, the industries will generate more revenue to the state coffers and will also provide jobs for the youths to earn a living.
He thanked his constituents for their continued support and corporation for all his activities, thereby assuring them of his desire in the provision of the dividends of democracy across the constituency.
