The people of Njua Kaku community have lived for their entire generations without a Secondary School, and their children after finishing primary school, they enroll in their neighbouring Community Secondary school Borum where the children trek for 7.5 kilometers every morning to get to school and trek on the hot sun or rain back to the village after school. The few parents who could afford fees and other school related bills sent their children to secondary school at Okundi, ogoja etc.
Njua Kaku community has three sub villages within the autonomous community, with an estimated population of over 2000 adult who are predominantly farmers and a few civil and public servants. The community currently has one of the largest forest in Boki LGA and is playing host with other communities in the Afi Wildlife game forest reserved. The community is bounded with Boje,Borum,Kakubok,Kakwagom irruan,Nkayia,Buancho and Nsadop communities. The Community currently has only one political appointee in the State (Dr Yakubu Shendam- Special Adviser to the Governor on SME’s) and a current Hon. Councillor (Hon.George Ajangson) who is representing the Ward and no other. The community has the highest voting strength on community and polling unit basis in the Ward and Boki Constituency 11, and has remained a very strong hold of PDP since 1999 till date.
The secondary school situation has become a social problem in Njua Kaku community and severally, the community has reached out to government at all levels to come to their aid by building them a 3-6 classroom block, in order to begin a secondary school of their own. Unfortunately, government have not been able to do anything yet to address their plight.
Recently, the Njua Kaku community was organized by their Son who took the turn of the community on zoning and was nominated and subsequently elected as Hon. Council of Oku/Borum/Njua Ward to begin a community base effort secondary school building. The community unanimously levied all her citizens (1000 each)for the take off of the project. Hon. George Ajangson took further steps to organize all Njua Kaku Sons/Daughters in the Diaspora to make financial commitment for the same project. God’s willing, both the Njua Kaku community based citizens and their Sons/Daughters in the Diaspora have contributed and still contributing their quota toward the project.
Hon.George Ajangson have put together the resources so far contributed and have started the building of the 6 classroom block with a staff/principal offices. He commenced the project on the 25/1/2021 at the secondary school site chosen by the Njua Kaku community. The building which was estimated at about 10m with direct labour from the community (men/women/youths) has successfully taken off and has gone up to 50% for the period of one month and above of it commencement.
The money so far invested in the project is over 4m and the community is almost exhausted financially hence the public appeal. The project need more cement, sand, woods, zinc and other necessary materials for it completion.
The Njua Kaku community pray God to touch and bless the hearts of individuals from the Boki extraction and outside Boki to come to the aid of Njua Kaku community and help us complete the project as soon as possible.
The community specially appeal to the government of CRS state, the Senator of CRS Central, the Member representing Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, the Executive Chairman of Boki LGA,the Boki 1&2 Rt.Hon. Members in the CRSHA,the 2 Hon. Commissioners from Boki, the SSG CRS, all Political Appointees of Boki and and other parts of the State, business men/women,and indeed other spirited Nigerians to please lend a helping hand to the Njua Kaku community on the project and help save the future of our children.
