The Ekori Progressive Element League paid a courtesy call on Hon. Alex Egbona, Ph.D, in his office today. The group came to celebrate with Hon. Alex Egbona to mark his birthday with him at the office.

The group leaders, Group Captain Ikona, (Rtd), said their visit was premised on the basis of familiarization and to intimate the Honorable Member of the existence of the group, and to further seek partnership and collaboration with the MP.

Other members of the group included Elder Bassey Mbang, Mr. Akpama Uket, and Mr. Philip Eteng. The group briefed Hon. Alex Egbona on their activities towards attracting community development initiatives for the wellbeing of Ekori people and Yakurr in general.

In particular, Elder Mbang Bassey, called on the MP to pay more attention to employment of young talents from Yakurr LGA in the federal civil service. He also thanked the Honorable Member for the empowerment of more than 30 women from Ekori during the Alex Care Agricultural Support Initiative. Mr. Philip Eteng thanked the Honorable Member on the good things he has been doing in support of Ekori people and promised that the Ekori people will not forget the goodwill shown them.

On his part, Mr. Akpama Uket said the visit was also to strengthen the links between his office and the office of the MP.

Responding, Hon. Alex Egbona reiterated his desire to see to it that he attracts projects that will reflect on the people’s wellbeing. “After visiting the ngem drainage erosion at Ntan, I made a promise to myself that we’ll attract the federal government intervention fix that erosion site before a disaster will occur.”

Dr. Alex Egbona also told the group of his collaborative efforts with different ministries and agencies to see to it that members of Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency receives job placements in different ministries whenever such opportunity presents itself. “On the part of recruitment into the police, immigration, civil defense, customs, etc., I have done my best to make sure Abi/Yakurr sons and daughters are given a priority.”

He promised to keep doing his best to uplift the constituency.

The high point of the occasion was the group presentation of a gigantic congratulatory/birthday card to Hon. Alex Egbona.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Chuks Agube thanked the group for their fore sight to partner the office of Hon. Alex Egbona. “I promise you, in the long run, our principal, Dr. Alex Egbona will not disappoint you people”, he concluded.
