The Vice Chancellor of University of Cross River, Prof. Augustine Angba has admonished the National Executive of the University’s Alumni to take adequate steps in resolving the leadership crisis that is currently rocking the association.

He gave the admonition on Tuesday when the National EXCO led by Comrade Eyam Abeng paid a courtesy visit to him and other management Staff of the institution.
According to him,
“I want to believe that this meeting marks a new chapter in the Alumni Business. Go back, call them and tell them that there is good news. Tell them that Crutech is working. The foundation that was laid in CRUTECH is a good one.”

Similarly, the Registrar of the University, Mr. Victor Ene advised Comrade Abeng to reach out to those in court and bring them together. He said that once the Alumni’s house is in order, the Management team can now come in and help resolve the lingering issues.

On her part, the DVC Administration, Professor Mary Eyo
described members of the Alumni Exco as her children and advised them to come together and work in one voice so as to help Management achieve the plans they have for the University. According to her, “when you’re together, you will do more. The development of the universitiy is a collective responsibility and together we will take the institution to a greater height.”

The National President, Comrade Eyam Abeng called on Management to wade into the leadership crisis rocking the association and bring about peace.

Also speaking, a BoT member of the Alumni, Mr. Otu Peter stated that Comrade Eyam is willing to work with all parties. He added that the commissioner for Education has intervened and asked all parties to amicably resolve the matter. He pleaded with the aggrieved parties to withdraw the case in court.

Reacting, Barr. Ukam Ngwu, the National Legal Adviser said it is disheartening to see the Alumni in legal battles. I advise that they should withdraw the case and come on a roundtable and come up with a document that is signed by all”
According to him “We don’t have two National Excos. It has always been one executive and others who have dissenting voices went to court.”

In his closing remark, Mr. Egere Patrick, Vice President, South South thanked the Management Team for their efforts in giving a new lift to UNICROSS. He assured that they will take the message home and work on it. He prayed for Management to succeed in all their endeavors.
