The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Adm. David Adeniran, has urged newly decorated senior officers of the Command to be more dedicated and hardworking in the performance of their assigned responsibilities.
Adeniran gave the charge on Wednesday during the decoration ceremony of eight senior officers at the Eastern Naval Command Officers’ Mess Calabar.
He reiterated that “to whom much is given, much is expected”, hence the need for the officers to braze up for their new roles.
“As you grow higher in rank in the service, your responsibilities would become higher too, therefore you must braze up to the expectation of your respective new ranks,” he said.
The decorated officers include Commodore Cajethan Aniaku, Capt. Suleiman Mohammed, Capt. Suleiman Abdulllahi, Surgeon Capt. Uche Okeke and Surgeon Capt. Ugochi Nzeribe-Abangwu.
Others are, Surgeon Commander Kabir Salami, Surgeon Commander Ido-Akpan and Commander Emmanuel Aknyemi.
Responding on behalf of the decorated officers, Commodore Aniaku thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for deeming them fit to be promoted to the next higher rank.
On behalf of his colleagues, Aniaku promised to make the Nigerian Navy proud and by extension the country at large in the performance of their respective assigned higher responsibilities.
He thanked the Navy Board, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command and other distinguished senior officers to have found them worthy of their new ranks.
