CRUTECH CELEBRATES FORMER VC, PROF. EKA BRAIDE AS SHE BECOMES FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT OF NAS

CRUTECH is immensely proud of the achievement of our former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ekanem Ikpi Braide as she was on Thursday inducted as the first female president of the Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS).

Braide, a former Vice Chancellor of CRUTECH, who is the 19th President of the Academy, is the Academy’s first female President in 44 years of existence.

Professor Braide has a long track record of firsts in African academia, signalling early her pioneering spirit as first female Professor of Parasitology in Nigeria, First female Zonal Coordinator of the Nigeria Guinea worm Eradication Programme, first female Vice Chancellor of CRUTECH, pioneer Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lafia, and only Yakurr woman to have been conferred with the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), to mention just a few. Her life has been a sustained expedition of positive exploits.

Professor Braide currently serves as Pro-Chancellor of Arthur Jarvis University and a distinguished member of the Yakö Academic Society’s Board of Trustees. By her induction as 19th President of the Nigerian Academy of Science, she brings untold honour to us as a university community and the entire Cross River people.
