The Central Planning Committee of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Cross River state chapter has fixed July 17th, 2020 as the new date for her election.

The announcement was made during a Press briefing by the Central Planning Committe led by Comr. Eyo Boco on July 1st. According to him, the committee has consulted widely with relevant stakeholders across board including Security, Ministry of Youths, NYCN advisory council in the state and they have their support to go ahead with the process.

The CPC chair called on all aspirants and delegates for the election to adhere to the new date saying “Every aspirant and delegate is expected to take strong note of the above date and follow accordingly, as we are committed to deliver a transparent and hitch free elections come the 17th of July, 2020.”

The committee vowed to conduct a transparent election saying “We would not allow any individual come in between us and the delivery of a free, fair and credible elections for the youths of Cross River. We would put in all that it takes to get the right thing done, paying no compromising regard to no one.”

The Central Planning Committee which was inaugurated by congress on the 19th of June, 2020 has the sole mandate of planning and midwifing a process that will bring forth a congress which will see to the emergence of a brand new state executive council through a constitutionally credible, free and fair elections.

The CPC was reconstituted owing to a vote of no confidence passed on the former CPC led by Attah Etim on account of too many irregularities and biasness exhibited.

The Congress which derives its powers and guidance from the NYCN constitution is empowered to constitute, regulate and conduct the activities of the council as it pertains to elections.

The Central Planning Committee is headed by Comrade Eyo Boco representing South as chairman, Comr. Akwo Leonard representing Central as Secretary and two other members representing North and Voluntary Youth Organization (VYO).
