COVID-19: C’RIVERIAN INVENTS HAND WASHING MACHINE OPERATED USING LEG

BY: Frankie Ifop

Mr Augustine Ogar, from Cross River State, has created a hand washing machine that is operated with the legs using local materials from his Community.

Mr. Ogar, who also invented an hydroelectric power generator in 2017/2018, saw the need for his Community, Bashu in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria, and decided to gift them a hands washing machine to help reduce the spread of Corona virus disease (COVID-19).

Bashu, being a border community between Nigeria and Cameroon and having abundant natural resources, has never tested any government development as the community is lacking good road, schools, electricity, water, health centre and telecommunications network.

With COVID-19 ravaging the world and its economy, a Community like Bashu with a total population of about 3,200, will certainly be wiped out if the virus gets in.
