The member representing Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Alex Egbona has written to President Buhari requesting for appointment of notable APC leaders in Cross River state into sensitive positions like Ambassadors, Board members amongst others.
Chief Alex in an open letter to the president expressed dissatisfaction with the way appointments are made without input from leaders of the party in the state and pleaded for a change in status quo.

OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, ALHAJI MUHAMMADU BUHARI
Federal Republic of Nigeria
Aso Rock, Abuja
July 8, 2020
THE UNFAMILIAR APPOINTMENTS TO CROSS RIVER PEOPLE WITHOUT PROPER INPUTS FROM/CONSULTATIONS WITH APC LEADERS IN CROSS RIVER STATE
It is with a very heavy heart that I write to draw Your Excellency’s attention to the unacceptable style of appointing unfamiliar people under the cover of Cross River State’s quota, which is gradually becoming a norm and a serious source of concern for our party members.
You may have been aware that in Cross River State, I am the only elected representative of the party at all levels. In other words, I am the only voice and eye of the party in Cross River State as far as elective positions are concerned. Your Excellency may also have been aware that victory for me and the party did not come easy.
A lot of people made sacrifices for the party to secure a seat in the House of Representatives, through me. What that means is that there were scores of party men and women who staked their lives, time, resources and energy to ensure that the PDP did not run away with everything.
But it is painful, Mr President, that appointments would be made by Your Excellency, to cover the quota for Cross River State and I or any other leader of the party from the state would be in the dark concerning such appointments. The recent appointment of non carrier diplomats is a case in point.
Your Excellency, this is really unfair and capable of discouraging party faithful from contributing towards the successes of the party. A situation where “strangers” are the ones to benefit from appointments, while those who made sacrifices for the party are neither aware of such appointments nor are they beneficiaries can only kill people’s zeal and commitment to the progress of the party.
I am therefore respectfully urging Your Excellency to note this complaint and be properly guided during future appointments. The party has a long way to go in the state and it will only take unity of purpose on the part of members, for us to achieve success in future elections.
I am therefore recommending that Your Excellency kindly consider one of the following as replacement for the non career ambassadorial nominee from Cross River, while also having the others listed above for your kind consideration in the event of future appointments:1. Chief Clement Ebri( former governor)
2. Senator Prince Bassey Otu(former senator)
3. Larry Odey(former speaker, acting governor).
Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration and continued loyalty.
Hon Alex Egbona, PhD
