The Vice Chancellor of Cross River University of Technology, Prof. Augustine Angba has called on staff of Obubra Campus of the university to come up with innovative ideas that can bring about an increase in the number of students admitted into the campus. The Vice Chancellor made the call during the Covid-19 Orientation and Virtual Learning exercise held in the campus on February 4th, 2021. That campus accommodates the Faculty of Agriculture only.
According to Professor Angba, the issue of low population of students in is not only peculiar to CRUTECH. Therefore, he suggested that staff should think outside the box on ways to surmount this problem.
He equally expressed concerns over the encroachment of CRUTECH land by some members of the community that hosts the university. He called on such persons to refrain from that habit. To this end, he expressed optimism that the issue will soon become a thing of the past.
That visit to Obubra campus was like homecoming for Professor Angba, considering the fact that he is a Professor of Agricultural Extension and was an adjunct lecturer in that faculty of CRUTECH for several years before he got appointed as Vice Chancellor of the university.
Highpoints of the visit were the Covid-19 Orientation for both staff and students as well as discussion on virtual learning billed to commence by second semester of the 2019/20 session.
