100 CRUTECH STUDENTS TO BENEFIT FROM NIGERIA-SAO TOME SCHOLARSHIP, SAYS VC

The Vice Chancellor of Cross River University of Technology, Prof. Augustine Angba says about 100 students selected from various departments of the institution are to benefit from the Nigeria-Sao Tome Scholarship scheme. Prof. Angba stated this on Thursday, January 28, 2021 while addressing students during the COVID-19 Orientation programme of the university. According to him: “We have submitted a list of 100 CRUTECH students to benefit from the Nigeria-Sao Tome Scholarship. I have also secured scholarships for so many of our graduate students to further their studies”.

The VC equally announced scholarship for the Best Behaved Students in all the faculties of the institution. He stated:
“For the best graduating student, we are going to look for as many reasonable scholarships as possible for them. I am going to offer full scholarships to the Best Behaved Students in all Faculties in CRUTECH. The selection process will be carried out by the students. We call on friends of CRUTECH to help support our internal scholarship program for our students”.

The Professor of Agricultural Economics further stated that the Management of CRUTECH is collaborating with both local and foreign universities for effective service delivery that will benefit the students as according to him, students are the most important factor on campus. He said: “You are the reason we are here. There must be an agreement between the students and Management for us to work together.”

Prof. Angba further disclosed that the institution has signed an agreement with Telecommunications giant, Airtel Nigeria Limited to provide free WiFi on campus to both staff and students. He added that Management has secured the construction of ultramodern hostels and library for Ogoja and Okuku campuses. According to him: “In the meantime, we have been able to secure an ultramodern hostel for Okuku and Ogoja hostels. We have also secured an ultramodern library for Ogoja Campus. We want to absorb over 1,000 students in Ogoja and Okuku from off campus into the campus. We assure you that very soon, we will have 24 hours power supply on campus. If you have any issue in your hostels, don’t take it to social media, put it on your classrooms’ platforms”.

Prof. Angba further stated that “the destiny of Cross River State is in our hands and we can’t toy with it. My vision is to raise young men who are globally competitive”.

He gave the assurance of a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning, saying “I assure you that we are going to give you the necessary support to acquire the best education. We will try our best to create the enabling environment for you to thrive. As Management, we have made up our mind to change the narrative.”
